Sailor Moon Seiyuu Appear in Dragon Ball Kai!

As we're hoping one anime show gets its renewal in the form of a redub here in the US and Canada, another show has gotten just that in Japan. To mark the 20th Anniversary of Dragon Ball Z, Toei Animation is going back to Dragon Ball Z and re-releasing it this time in stunning high definition with All new digital transfers, All new opening and closing themes, and with a new name: Dragon Ball Kai!

The greatest thing about this version of Dragon Ball is that alot of the old seiyuu are reprising their roles in the series. Fortunately for us, two of them are Sailor Moon Seiyuu!

Toru Furuya, best known for his role of Tuxedo Kamen in Sailor Moon, is reprising his role as Yamcha.

Hikaru Midorikawa, best known for his role as Fiore in the Sailor Moon R Movie, is now voicing Tenshinhan (or known to us in the English dub as Tien) due to the death of the previous voice actor, Hirotaka Suzuoki, from complications of lung cancer.

Currently no news has been released from FUNImation Productions, who currently holds the distribution rights to Dragon Ball Z in the US and Canada, wither or not they will start to dub this version of the show as well but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't pick it up in the next year or so.

However, Toei announced that the DVD and Blu-Ray versions are to be released in Japan in September with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio (Full Screen) instead of the 16:9 format (widescreen) used in the Japanese Broadcast. Regardless of this, we're excited to see Dragon Ball back in Japan and we look forward to see how this version turns out!
