North American Voice Actor Update for January 2011

Here's our first update on the North American voice actors for the new year. They've been busy, so there is lots to report!

The Kevin Spacey film Casino Jack is said to include songs in the soundtrack sung by Emilie-Claire Barlow (Sailor Venus #2) and Cadence, an a capella group who even imitates musical instruments. Cadence was introduced to the film's composer, Jonathan Goldsmith, by Emilie. Together they were hired to work on 25 minutes of the score for Casino Jack. They spent two long days in the studio together, learning the music on the spot, with direction from the composer and music director. Readers may recall that we have reported that David Fraser (Grandpa Hino) plays Karl Rove in the film (pictured, left; photo from IMDb). This film is now playing in select cities, check your local showtimes to see if it's in your area.

Canadian fans may be interested in catching Sidekick on YTV, an animated series about Eric Needles, the young sidekick of a superhero called Maxum Man. Although Maxum Man is mysteriously missing, Eric "lives in the superstar superhero's fabulous mansion with Maxum Brain, the super computer, and has access to the most amazing jets, cars, lasers, gadgets and teleportation devices ever invented." Familiar voices in the series include Tony Daniels (Jedite/Wiseman) as Maxum Brain and Ron Rubin as the villain Master XOX (pictured, left; photo from YTV). Also on YTV is the recently launched Almost Naked Animals, a comedic cartoon featuring animals wearing underwear. We've previously mentioned that Emilie-Claire Barlow (Sailor Venus #2) plays Bunny in the series. We've also recently discovered that Robert Tinkler (Rubeus) plays Howie in the series. We've previously mentioned Vince Corazza (Allan/Tuxedo Mask #3) as being a part of Rock and Roll: The Movie. Interested fans can now watch a trailer for the film on IMDb here. We recommend that younger readers be cautious if following through to watch the trailer, as the movie includes mature themes and is described as "an off the wall, T&A, rock and roll comedy." Vince plays Bill, a friend of the alcoholic, has-been Steve Taylor whom a young man named David is attempting to assist gain a record deal, in order to win a bet. You can first catch Vince in the trailer at about 37 seconds in, and he has another line at about 1:18. It's unclear if this film has been released in theatres as yet, but we will let you know if we find any more details.

Tony Daniels (Jedite/Wiseman) can also be heard in The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! in three different episodes. Other familiar voices on the show include the previously reported Robert Tinkler (Rubeus) as Fish and other voices, Tracey Hoyt (Rini #1) as Sally's Mom, and Jeff Lumby (Professor Tomoe) as Aiya and other characters. Additional cast we have noticed are Julie Lemieux (Sammy) as Bart in four episodes and Linda Ballantyne (Sailor Moon #3) as Katie and other characters (in a total of three episodes). Tony Daniels was also in an episode of Arthur in the fall, as Johnny/male announcer.

Tracey Hoyt (Rini #1) appears in Servitude as a lousy mom. The comedic Canadian film is about "A group of frustrated waiters at a kitschy steakhouse [who] take over their restaurant for one final, glorious, revenge-filled night when they discover they are all about to be fired." (description from IMDb). This film is currently in post-production.

Robert Tinkler (Rubeus) is part of a new television series called Mudpit. He plays Slime. "This CGI animated/live-action series follows four real-world teens and their rock band, MUDPIT, as they follow their dreams of fame and fortune. The series takes place in a gaming café and a fantastic, virtual world known as MUZIKA. Their online avatar rock band personas battle for a coveted record deal, while their real life selves engage in the daily comedy and drama of teenage life." (description from TV, eh?)

We previously reported that Tracey Moore (Sailor Moon #1) is in the cast of the Care Bears to the Rescue Movie. The movie is now available for pre-order on DVD and will be released on February 8th.

Dennis Akayama (Malachite) appeared in an episode of Being Erica entitled "Gettin' Wiggy Wit' It" in November, as Dr. Kotara. He will also be appearing in the upcoming Canadian film Hello October, as Oliver. this romantic comedy is currently in post-production.

Fans can now see Barney's Version in select theatres. Harvey Atkin (Bumboo/Pox) appears in the film as the second Mrs. Panofsky's father. A trailer is available for viewing on IMDb here. Currently the film is airing in the Toronto and Montréal areas, with an extended release to begin January 14th, across Canada. More details about the movie can be found on the official website.

Rino Romano's (Tuxedo Mask #1) voice was heard in an episode of CSI as Sqweegel (which was also the episode title), an episode first aired last October. The character was a serial killer who punished local heroes with hidden secrets.

Kirsten Bishop (Zoicite/Kaori Knight/Emerald) appeared in an episode of the new Nikita TV series, as Mrs. Harcourt/Irena. The episode was called "Phoenix" and a description is available on IMDb here.

As previously reported, Naz Edwards (Queen Beryl) played a tipsy ("drowsy") grand theatre dame in Drowsy Chaperone. Her character was assigned to keep a young star away from her fiancé, so that the star doesn't abandon her career in favour of getting married. It is described as a comedic and wacky musical, set in the 1920's. The play ran from November 11, 2010 through January 2, 2011 at the Performance Network Theatre in Ann Arbor, Michigan. NA Voice Actor Update: Fall 2010

Hello readers! Lots of updates for you this time about the North American voice actors. They've been busy! Updates about Emilie-Claire Barlow and Stephanie Beard will be featured in an upcoming post.

We previously reported that Harvey Atkin (Bumboo/Pox) will be appearing in Barney's Version. This film has now premiered at Donostia-San Sebastian International Film Festival (Spain), Venice Film Festival (Italy), Toronto International Film Festival (Canada). It is scheduled to show at the Hamptons International Film Festival in New York on October 7th. Still no date for the theatrical release confirmed.

Dennis Akayama is also appearing in a recently released film. He plays Captain Hotaka in Resident Evil: Afterlife. Another installment in the Resident Evil series, this film follows Alice as she joins a group of survivors who want to relocate to a mysterious safe haven known as Arcadia (description from IMDb).

Sabrina Grdevich (Anne/Sailor Pluto #1) appeared in an episode of Rookie Blue, as Anna Vetter. In this episode of the police drama, a heat wave wreaks havoc on the city (description from IMDb).

David Fraser (Grandpa Hino) will be playing Karl Rove in the upcoming film, Casino Jack. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, on September 16th and 17th. It is expected to show in theatres starting in December 2010. An official trailer is available here. He also appears in Covert Affairs as a supervisor in the episode entitled "Houses of the Holy." The show is a crime drama about a CIA agent.

Katie Griffin can be heard as Hikaru in Beyblade: Metal Fusion. Canadian fans may be interested to know that new episodes are coming up on YTV. We previously reported that Robert Tinkler (Rubeus) appears in this show as Gingka. We have also heard that more voice actors from Sailor Moon may be appearing in this series, so keep listening out for them!

Naz Edwards (Queen Beryl) will be appearing on stage in the upcoming musical The Drowsy Chaperone, which runs from November 11 - December 26, 2010 at the Performance Network theatre in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ticket information is available here. Here's the description of the play from the theatre: "A lollapalooza of a musical to take you back to the dazzling fantasy of the 1920's - when stars had charisma, Broadway had romance and audiences had the time of their lives. Sarah Lafleur (Sailor Uranus) appears as the title character in Taylor Warren, a 14 minute short film. It premiered July 25th at the Regency Academy Theatre in Pasadena, CA as part of the 2010 Action On Film Festival. (source: sarahlafleurfan.com)

Alice Poon (Catsy) can be seen in Devil, recently released in theatres, as Officer Choi. This PG-13 film is about a group of people trapped in an elevator who realize that the devil is among them (description from IMDb).

Alison Sealy-Smith (Amphibia) has now appeared in seven episodes Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures as Nurse Lydia. Although these episodes premiered some time ago, we only now have confirmation of her appearance in them.

Robert Tinkler (Rubeus), can also be heard in The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! as Fish, Thing 1, Thing 2, and other characters. Fans can catch this series on Treehouse in Canada and PBS in the US.

North American Voice Actors: Summer Update

Sabrina Grdevich (Anne Granger, Sailor Pluto #1) appeared in When Love is Not Enough: The Lois Wilson Story, as Julia. The biography is based on the true story of the enduring but troubled love between Lois (played by Winona Ryder) and her alcoholic husband Bill (played by Barry Pepper), co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous. The movie was premiered on US television April 25th and on Canadian television on May 5th.

David Huband (Serena's Dad) now has two upcoming films for 2010 and another for 2011. We previously reported that he will be appearing in Running Mates, as Father McDonough, set to premiere later this year and in Dream House, as officer Nelson, set to premiere in 2011. Later this year he will also be appearing in a short film called Animal Control, as a vet. The film is about Larry, an eccentric amateur taxidermist whose only companions are the animals he's stuffed. All three films are currently in post-production. We will be sure to let you know when we have information about release dates.

Rino Romano (Tuxedo Mask #1) can be heard in the upcoming Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions video game as the 3rd Spider-Man. The game will be released on September 7, 2010. He can also be heard in the film Get Him to the Greek, which is currently in theatres. The film is about a record company intern who is hired to accompany an out-of-control British rock star to a concert at L.A.'s Greek Theater (description from IMDb).

We previously reported that Harvey Atkin (Bumboo/Pox) will be appearing in Barney's Version. A trailer for the film is now available for viewing on Youtube, but the language is a bit mature/suggestive so our younger readers may want to avoid this one. No release date yet, the trailer only says "coming soon." Rating not yet available either.

Norma Dell'Agnese (Prisma) appeared in the premiere episode of the Canadian comedy Dan for Mayor. The show is about a slacker in his early 30s who ends up unintentionally running for mayor of his town. Fans may recognize Fred Ewanuick, who plays the protagonist, as he was previously a recurring character on another Canadian comedy show, Corner Gas.

Robert Tinkler (Rubeus) can be heard in Beyblade: Metal Fusion as the hero of the series, Gingka. Gingka and his friends take on a group known as the Dark Nebula who want to conquer the world (an extended description is available on ANN via the link above).

Toby Proctor (Tuxedo Mask #2) joined in on the Canada Day festivities in the township of Scugog, Ontario. The celebrations were hosted throughout Palmer Park and Water Street. Fish TV held a sports celebrity weigh-in in the afternoon. Toby was joined by comedian Russel Peters, actor Aaron Douglas, and Brian Skinner of the LA Clippers.

Tracey Hoyt (Rini #1) appeared in an episode of Living in Your Car as Nurse Cohen. the episode, entitled "chapter four" first aired on May 28th. Fans can catch the series on HBO Canada. Description from IMDb: The story follows Steve Unger, who was caught cooking the books and now finds himself legally forbidden from working in any position that involves "other people's money". Clinging desperately to the last vestige of his former self - his luxury sedan - Steve hopes to begin anew. Shunned by family and friends, under court order to teach an ethics class to other "fallen angels," Steve now makes his home inside his luxury car. Emilie-Claire Barlow (Sailor Venus #2) will headline the 21st year of Hillebrand Jazz at the Winery alongside Denzal Sinclaire; the Richard Underhill Quintet and the Jake Wilkinson Quintet featuring Michelle Willis. Fans can see her perform on Saturday, July 10th in Niagara. Gates open at 2 pm and the concert takes place from 4 pm to 8 pm. NA Voice Actor Update for March 2010

The Red Green Show: The Infantile Years - Seasons 1991-1993 is now available on DVD. The Canadian comedy show includes Jeff Lumby (Professor Tomoe) as Winston Rothschild, III.

Alison Sealy-Smith (Amphibia) appears in an episode of Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures as Nurse Lydia. The episode is entitled "How to Get Ahead in Medical School." Here's a description of the episode, from IMDb: "As Ming gets ready to proceed with her plans for artificial insemination, her husband Chen is stressed and fantasizing about street races and infidelity. The sperm donor, Fitz, their medical school classmate and Ming's former boyfriend, is considering reinstatement at the hospital which stirs up a lot of unresolved issues. His return would also create more tension between the trio since he wouldn't be an absentee donor after all, but working alongside the couple every day."

Sabrina Grdevich appeared in an episode of Cra$h & Burn called "Bond Blame Baptize" as Nicole Asher. The episode debuted on February 4th. We've already seen Katie Griffin on this show too. David Huband (Serena's Dad) is playing officer Nelson in an upcoming film called Dream House. The thriller is about a family who moves into a house that seems wonderful at first, until they learn of a brutal crime committed against the former residents. Currently filming in Oakville, Newmarket, and Toronto in southern Ontario, Canada; the film is expected to be released in 2011.

Harvey Atkin (Bumboo, Pox) played Rabbi Goldstein in an episode of 18 to Life, a Canadian comedy about neighbours with opposing viewpoints who become family when their teenage kids get married. Filmed in Montreal, the series started airing in January. The episode featuring Harvey Atkin was aired February 8th. Episodes are available online via the CBC website.

Emilie-Claire Barlow (Sailor Venus #2) has been commenting on her recent Juno nomination. From The Globe and Mail: “I think the only way to get any perspective on that is to travel outside the country. Travelling in Asia and Europe, [people say that] there’s something going on with Canadian musicians, especially female jazz singers. When I do travel overseas, people say there’s such a talent pool of Canadian female jazz singers.” And from Exclaim News: "It's nice to be invited to the party and this means another round of publicity. I'm up against Diana Krall though," she laughs.

Vince Corazza (Allan/Tuxedo Mask #2) is spotted voicing Caesar in the White Knight Chronicles PS3 video game, currently out right now. The fantasy role playing game begins in the kingdom of Balandor, where a princess' coming-of-age banquet is raided by an evil organization called Magi. A boy called Leonard grabs the princess' hand and leads her to safety in the castle cellars, where he finds a suit of armor that transforms him into the White Knight – an ancient warrior with the strength to defeat Magi's forces (description from Wikipedia). North American VA Update for December 2009

Here's another update on the North American voice actors for everyone, this time we have a few actors returning to roles in shows, a concert date, and a movie trailer.

Sarah Lafleur (Sailor Uranus) made an appearance in the November 27th episode of Ugly Betty. The episode, "Level 7 with Me" was about Daniel Meade's attempt to reunite with his deceased wife, Molly (played by Lafleur) with the aid of the Community of the Phoenix. Betty and Daniel's mother, Claire had been suspicious of the motivations of the community, fearing that the community wanted Daniel to invest large amounts of money into it. With help from Matt and Amanda, Betty was able to find Daniel before it was too late. He and Natalie had been drinking some tea with a hallucinogenic drug in it that made them see their loved ones in front of them. Daniel was able to see Molly one last time as Betty tried to coax him out of the trance. In a touching scene, Molly told Daniel that he had to let her go. He kissed her goodbye and then returned to reality with Betty standing before him. Betty later told Daniel that he kissed her eyebrow, because Molly was taller than herself. The episode was a nice way to say goodbye to Sarah Lafleur's character, but I'm sure we will continue to hear about Molly in future episodes.

Julie Lemieux (Sammy) returned to her role as the voice of Pig Will in a recent episode of Busytown Mysteries (Hurray for Huckle!). The episode, "Sandcastle Squasher/Strange Ski Tracks Mystery" aired November 21st. The Canadian animated children's show is based on the works of author and illustrator Richard Scarry. It centres around six characters solving the mysteries of everyday life in an imaginary place called Busytown. (description from IMDb)


Harvey Atkin (Pox, Bumboo) returned to his role as Judge Alan Ridenour in the November 18th episode, "Perverted" of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Here's NBC's description of the episode: While in the park, a family stumbles upon the mutilated body of Clyde Vandyne, a member of a biker gang known for prostitution and contract killing. To everyone's surprise, incriminating DNA evidence points to Detective Benson as the prime suspect. Munch and Fin investigate the murder, while Stabler fights to prove his partner's innocence. The detectives must find the missing link to both Vandyne's murder and Benson's involvement.

Harvey Atkin will also be appearing in the upcoming Barney's Version, a film currently in post-production and scheduled for release in 2010. No details on the name of Harvey's character yet, but here is a description of the Canadian/Italian film from IMDb: The picaresque and touching story of the politically incorrect, fully lived life of the impulsive, irascible and fearlessly blunt Barney Panofsky.


Emilie Claire Barlow (Sailor Venus #2) performed December 4th and 5th in Brasil with the Art of Time Ensemble at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto. Toronto fans will also have an extra chance to see Emilie perform in April 2010. A second performance for Glenn Gould Studio has been added, for Thursday April 15, 2010 at 8pm. She was previously scheduled only for Friday, April 16 at 8pm. Tickets and additional details are available here.

Stephanie Beard (Rini #2) appears in an online trailer for her upcoming film, Not Quite College. The trailer has strong language, mature themes, and Stephanie appears smoking in it. We are suggesting that only our older readers watch it. The film looks like it will appeal to fans of American Pie and similar. If you're ready, you can view the trailer here. Wanna See Some New VA Ventures?

Tune into Teletoon June 29th!

Canadian Moonies should tune into Teletoon beginning at 4PM ET/PT to catch sneak peeks of two new cartoon shows (maybe more?) featuring Sailor Moon VAs! The internet has been mum about the other shows on the previews that day - so we will be watching (and will keep you posted if we see any other actors)! Tell your friends to watch too!

Emilie-Claire Barlow (Sailor Venus #2, Sailor Mars #2) will be playing Courtney on Total Drama Island. This Flash-animated cartoon is like the popular reality show Survivor but there’s a twist: it’s played with 22 teenagers at a camp in Northern Ontario! This show will have it’s official double-episode premiere on July 8th at 8PM, and then will play at its regular time slot Sundays and Thursdays at 8:30 PM. Total Drama Island is the brainchild of 6teen creators Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch - fans may recall Emilie-Claire played Chrissy, the manager of the Khaki barn in that show! The show’s official production blog has put up a lot of animation masters and other goodies for fans to check out before the show hits the airwaves.

Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island will finally have it’s long-awaited Canadian network premiere on July 2nd! This one is about a coconut named Fred who can materialize anything he thinks about. Fred’s imagination knows no bounds, and he takes his friends (who are also different fruits) on the strange adventures he conjures! And it looks like video gamers could get something out of this as they are dressed up as some well-known characters in an episode. Tracey Moore (Sailor Moon #1) plays the scaredycat Bingo Cherry! This show will air Monday through Friday at 10AM ET/PT, and then on Saturdays at 7AM ET/PT. The other thing about this show is that it is not a newer cartoon - it was once part of Kids WB’s schedule from 2005-2006.

A Winner of a Gracie Award is...

One other production involving a VA also won a Gracie! Why I Wore Lipstick to my Mastectomy won the Gracie for Outstanding Drama-Special. This made-for-TV movie starred Harvey Atkin (various Monsters of the Day) in the supporting role as Harvey. Congratulations to Lifetime Television on this win!


Hey Viz, Where’s Mirmo?

Mirumo de Pon! (or rather its English Title, Mirmo!) was a 172 episode behemoth of an anime that aired in Japan from 2002-2006. The anime, based on the popular manga of the same name, is about Kaede Minami, a typical, teenaged girl who is shy around boys and finds it difficult to date them. One day while coming home from school, she picks up a blue mug from a mysterious store. When she gets back home, engraved in the bottom of the cup is a message that reads "if you read this message aloud while pouring hot cocoa into the mug, a love fairy ("muglox") will appear and grant your every wish." She doesn’t believe this message, but tries it anyway. Lo and behold, a fairy named Mirmo appears, and he grants Katie’s wishes! Later we find out that there are hundreds of Muglox, some good, and some downright evil! The English cast for this show is huge featuring a few VA’s. Terri Hawkes (Sailor Moon #2) plays Anna, Mirmo’s classmate and the smartest fairy of the fairy school, Stephanie Beard (Rini #2) plays Momo Umezono (Kaede’s rival) , and Loretta Jafelice (Diana and Eudial) plays Rirumu, Mirmo’s fiancee. There’s lots of other famous voice talent in this show, including Veronica Taylor, Monica Rial, Wendee Lee, Brian Drummond, Tiffany Grant, and Nancy Cartwright (better known as Bart Simpson)! With all this talent, we have to wonder why Viz hasn’t released this popular series on DVD yet - or why the show isn’t on Kids WB anymore. The WB turned into the CW in fall of 2006, and considering that the anime ended in Japan in 2006, we doubt the series was shown in entirety on Kids WB since many things changed with the network. We encourage fans who want to see this show in more markets or on DVD to contact Viz!

Moon Chase's Debut Voice Actors Sightings , Part Two!

Live Action Feature Films:
Barbara Radecki (Serena’s Mom, Sailor Neptune) can be spotted in the role of a reporter in the Robin Williams flick, Man of the Year. Robin plays Tom Dobbs, host of a late-night political talk show who decides on a whim he’s going to run for President of the United States. Due to a computer error, he wins the election, and the rest of the movie follows Dobbs and Eleanor , a very torn former voting company employee, and their decision whether to make this public or not. The film was released on DVD February 20th.

In theatres now is Breach, a thriller based on the true story of Eric O'Neill, an upstart FBI operative who worked under Robert Hanssen, an agent who was convicted of spying for the Soviet Union for fifteen years. Fans should definitely check this out if they are into political crime dramas and it has been well-received from critics. The film stars Chris Cooper as Robert Hanssen, Ryan Phillippe as Eric O’Neill, as well as Laura Linney and Caroline Dhavernas . David Huband (Serena’s Dad) can be seen as a photographer in this movie.

Last but not least is a film we anticipate watching in 2008! Hank and Mike tells the story of two friends who are living their dream careers, being professional Easter Bunnies. They get laid off by their company and are now forced to find other jobs. Later they try to get their jobs back and save Easter for some very disgruntled kids who did not get any chocolate. This appears to be a movie adaptation of a 15-minute Canadian short about two easter bunnies who get drunk at a “Gentlemen’s Club”. Not many other details are known at this time, but two VA’s can be seen in this, Kathleen Laskey as Connie Schytt and David Huband as Mr. Sulsky. The director has uploaded a private, censored version of the trailer on youtube, and an uncensored one exists at the official website . The content of both trailers are pretty mature, so don’t watch either of them if you are under 18.

Live Action Television Series:

Naturally Sadie is a Canadian tween comedy that airs on both Family Channel in Canada. Disney Channel in the USA, and Nickelodeon in the UK and Australia. It tells the tales of high school student Sadie Hawthorne (played by Charlotte Arnold) who loves to study and observe animals, all while making her way through the jungle that is her high school. Currently , a third season is in production. Last November, in the episode Two of a Kind, David Huband appeared as Steve-O, Sadie Hawthorne’s very competitive uncle. The show is bound to repeat until the new season is broadcast, so check your local listings!

72 Hours: True Crime is currently in it’s third season on CBC television and on TLC in the USA. The show through re-enactments and sometimes archive footage tells the stories of real crimes in the USA and Canada , focusing on the first 72 hours after they were committed. The episode Frenzy, profiled the case of serial killer Eric Fitzgerald Ross who murdered a cab driver, as well as a Baptist deacon, his grandaughter and her boyfriend. David Fraser (Grandpa Hino) portrays Paul McGarry, a Staff Sargent with the Barrie Police Department who is assigned to the case. The episode aired in November of last year.

Sarah Lafleur (Sailor Uranus) continues her primetime TV appearances in CBS’s hit show, Without a Trace. She played the major role of sympathetic journalist Valerie Sharp, in the episode Eating Away which aired on January 14th of this year. Her character was the confidante of a competitive eater named Barry Rosen (played by Michael Dunn) who got involved in a very complicated situation with his brother, a gambler, and others. This episode is not likely to be on DVD for at least a year, so fans wanting to check this episode out should check their listings for a rerun.

And finally, for all you Sci-Fi fans, we have uncovered a very brand new sighting! Premiering sometime this fall on CHUM's specialty channel Space , is Ice Planet. Captain Jonas Trager and a team of international military and scientific personnel are on the search for a mysterious alien artifact, which is special because it grows from the memories of human explorers. Captain Trager lives to explore and investigate; forever searching for answers to the unknown. One unknown very close to him he continues to search for answers to is the mysterious murder of his wife, Cathy. As they explore this artifact, they are hit by an asteroid strike , and the artifact whips them through space and time to a mysterious ice planet. The survivors soon find themselves in the midst of an ancient alien war, and face a long journey of evolution and self-discovery to fulfill their destinies. Stephanie Morgenstern makes her sci-fi debut, starring as Cathy Trager in this series. Production is slated to begin any minute now (it was initially delayed due to the ACTRA strike) and is a joint production between Germany, the UK and Canada. There isn't an official site, but fans wanting more information can check out this very comprehensive fansite which is already rounding up potential fans before the show airs!

Live Action Movies for Television

Harvey Atkin (Various Monsters of the Day) and Katie Griffin (Sailor Mars) make up our last pair of sightings this time around. Both were seen in heartwarming movies that aired near the end of 2006!

Harvey Atkin was seen as Harvey in Lifetime’s Why I Wore Lipstick to my Mastectomy . This movie tells the true story of Geralyn Lucas, a former editorial producer for 20/20. When she was 27, she discovered a lump on her breast, and got the grim diagnosis that the lump had resulted from breast cancer. She underwent a mastectomy, and wrote about her experiences overcoming cancer in a book of the same name. In her own words, she wrote this book because “When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I promised that I would share my story with other women to help take away the fear of breast cancer and encourage them to get checked.". This movie was well received and is not on DVD yet, but can be purchased from iTunes

The Hallmark Hall of Fame flick Candles on Bay Street served as a reunion for Alicia Silverstone and Katie Griffin - they had previously worked together on the popular cartoon Braceface! Katie played Nina Harper, who was mean to Alicia Silverstone’s character, Sharon Spitz. In this movie, Alicia played Dee-Dee, a single mom who many years ago abruptly left her hometown in Maine , leaving Sam, a man who truly loved her. 13 years later she returns back there, to find he has married someone else. Dee-Dee is also now a single mom to her son, Trooper. She is also suffering from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and is looking for someone to take care of her son after she is gone. She makes candles for a living because they symbolize light in the dark. Katie Griffin played Naomi in this film. This movie aired on CBS last November and should be released on DVD any time now and fans can purchase this at their local Hallmark Gold Crown Store. We’re unsure why Hallmark has the movie all over their store and yet it cannot be found anywhere to purchase on their site . However we did notice a few legit copies kicking around on eBay so this makes us think that it may be available in stores as we speak!
